Park it at “Thank you”

Cityparks Latvija is a company specializing in parking lot management and currently services more than 150 parking lots in various cities in Latvia.

Sibilla Gardoviča, Head of the Cityparks Control Service, shares her experience.

Sibilla has been part of the Cityparks team for three years, and during this time she has been constantly looking for ways to motivate and inspire her colleagues every day. Although a fair and adequate salary is the foundation for employee satisfaction, experience shows that a fair wage alone is not enough, and regular additional activities are needed to create an inspiring work environment in which employees choose to stay long term. It is especially important to carry out such activities in companies where part of the employees do not spend their days in regular contact with their colleagues.

While searching for new employee engagement options, Sibilla recalled her experience at the R-Grupa company, where Peero app was used to strengthen mutual relationships and reduce communication gaps between colleagues. Based on the successful campaign at R-Grupa, the idea of a mutual gratitude campaign for Cityparks employees was born, the aim of which was to praise colleagues who embody the company’s values in their words and deeds every day.

From challenges to pleasant surprises

The essence of the campaign was simple: to say thank you for the small but important things in everyday life. Everyone who received recognition could exchange it for various benefits in the Peero gift shop.

Expressing gratitude, although important for everyone’s well-being at work and in private life, is not something that we can force someone to do, so when organizing the campaign, colleagues were invited to participate voluntarily. To Sibilla’s pleasant surprise, most employees were ready to jump right in, downloaded the Peero mobile app and began to send recognitions to their colleagues.

Gratitude every day!

Employees admitted that the campaign had created a lot of pleasant emotions. It was especially inspiring to see that not only office colleagues but also representatives of the control service were actively involved. These colleagues often face limited opportunities to socialize with the rest of the team, but as part of this campaign they complimented each other daily – for a clean and shiny work vehicle, deep understanding in everyday matters, a helping hand, or simply for a positive attitude towards others.

Over the course of three months, 25 out of 32 Cityparks employees actively participated in the campaign and sent a total of 310 compliments. Most of them were public, which added additional value – colleagues were praised in front of the entire company. This helped people get to know each other better and promoted a more open work and communication culture.

Peero challenge

During the campaign, employees were invited to share their hobbies and interests, as well as add photos of these sources of joy. These submissions were compiled and presented at the closing event. This created a genuine interest – colleagues asked each other questions, found common interests, and discovered some hidden talents in their team.

Wrapping up with a sense of community

The closing event of the campaign presented Peero’s analytics data, collaboration network, and highlighted Cityparks’ “value ambassadors” – employees who had received the most recognition in each of the company’s value categories. Peero representatives also attended the event to congratulate the most active senders of recognitions, including the employee with the widest collaboration network, or the so-called “unity index leader”.

Sibilla admits that this Peero campaign experience has been sincere, valuable, and even surprising. “Colleagues appreciated each other much more and more often than I expected. And most importantly, everyone who participated in the campaign received and gave positive emotions, thus strengthening the connection with the team and contributing to a more pleasant work environment.”
